Acrylic Collage & Amazing Glazing Kate Smith, Golden Acrylics Working Artist moved to Indiana from London to Chicago where she joined the Golden Working Artist Program in 2002. She was born in Plymouth, England, and spent her formative years in Salcombe, South Devon. She received a degree in Graphic Design in Norwich, specializing in Illustration then, continuing her education, she received an MFA in Illustration from London’s Royal College of Art 1995. She works on a relatively small scale on paper and board, using a mixture of media and collage. A strong feel for texture and color reflect the influence of the sea and its landscape in her imagery. She sells her paintings by commissions and through a London gallery, The Cadogan Contemporary (since 1995), where she continues to exhibit. Her work may also be found in private collects in the US and Europe. www.goldenpaints.com/artist/wap/artist.php?uid=17 Acrylic Collage: The Second Skin Hands-On Explore fabulous seductive surfaces, raised stencil designs, distressed grounds, unique image transfers, translucent multiple layering, decorative papers, acrylic skins, in a painterly unique approach to collage using Golden Gels, Grounds & Mediums. Amazing Glazing - Layer & Blend with Acrylics Learn how to make color sing in a whole new way! You will discover the beauty of applying thin, transparent layers of paint to achieve luminous glazes. Acrylic Glazing Liquid will allow you to slow the drying time of acrylics for greater control when blending on a surface. Combine paint with Gels to create textured, thick & juicy surfaces loaded with color and light. Transparent, modern pigments (organics) are ideal for glazing, yet the opaque qualities of many of the mineral pigments (inorganic) can be laid down as the groundwork of a painting or altered to establish translucent layers. For both workshops please bring: Something to carry several small wet paintings home in the car (a large cardboard lid or two can work well), paper towels & coated paper plates. Provided for you will be paints and many of Golden’s products. Wear worry-free clothes. For the collage workshop bring potential collage material (papers you have been meaning to use) and any stencils and stamps you have. Dates Time Place Fee Contact Checks must be postmarked by March 15. Space is limited to 11 people. Your non-refundable check reserves your place in this class.
